The Vienna Tourist Board has installed cookies on vienna.info for the purpose of performing its services and to transfer information through vienna.info. The Vienna Tourist Board has activated "_anonymizeIp()" for the vienna.info website. With this extension, IP addresses are processed in an abbreviated form in order to prevent direct association with an individual. Due to the IP anonymization on this website, the IP addresses of users within the Member States of the European Union or within contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area are first shortened by Google. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The Vienna Tourist Board uses the social plugins of the facebook.com network in the website of vienna.info. These plugins are operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94303, USA (hereinafter referred to as "Facebook") and can be identified by the Facebook logo.
When a user who has registered with and is currently logged into Facebook access a website of the vienna.info internet presence containing one of these plugins, the browser creates a direct connection to the Facebook servers by means of cookies placed by Facebook and the plugin on the vienna.info website. The plugin also enables Facebook to identify that a logged-in Facebook user is using the vienna.info website.
Installing the plugin enables Facebook to receive the information that the user has accessed the corresponding site of the vienna.info website. When the user interacts with the plugins, the corresponding information is sent from his browser direct to Facebook, where it is stored.
