In the Musikverein , Mahler's symphonies are played by world-class orchestras - including the Vienna Symphonic, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The highpoint is in May 2010, when the Vienna Philharmonic , directed by Daniele Gatti, performs Mahler's Fifth on five evenings.
The Konzerthaus is also a place of Mahler productions; a Mahler memorial plaque has been located here since 1945. In the first half of 2010, the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra guest stars with Symphony No. 10, while Ingrid Kaiserfeld sings songs by Alma Mahler. Bertrand de Billy conducts Mahler's "Symphonie der Tausend" , in which Johan Botha, Boaz Daniel and the Vienna Boys' Choir can be heard.
Vienna's youngest opera house, the Theater an der Wien , puts on first-class evenings of dance on 28 and 29 March 2010: At the ballet "3 Adieux" by Anne Teresa De Keersmaker and Jérome Bel, the Ictus Ensemble plays parts of Mahler's "Lied von der Erde", with soloist Sara Fulgoni.
About a dozen concerts take place referring to the exhibition "Gustav Mahler and Vienna" at the Theater Museum, performed by well-known artists like Marjana Lipovsek, Andrea Clausen, the Kreisler Trio or soloists of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
