There is more to do than just visit museums at the MuseumsQuartier, one of the world’s ten largest cultural complexes. The range of cultural attractions is outstanding with the Leopold Museum, Museum Moderner Kunst (MUMOK) and Kunsthalle leading the way. The MQ has also established itself as one of the city’s favorite meeting places thanks to its busy bars and restaurants. And things really hot up when summer comes around.
Sommer at the MQ brings a packed program of art, culture, theater, music, dance, performance and literature to this popular cultural district. Visitors can try their luck at boules while the little ones enjoy arts and crafts activities in the workshop.
Alternatively they can simply relax and take a seat at one of the outdoor cafés, bars and restaurants – or even recline on one of the unusual Enzi seating installations.
This summer’s billing includes a dance performance by Elio Gervasi, the O-Töne literature festival (from July 2, 2009; www.o-toene.at ), the frame[o]ut digital film festival (from July 3, 2009, www.frameout.at ), the start of the Vienna Jazz Festival (in June, www.viennajazz.org ) and Weekend Sounds with international DJs (Saturdays and Sundays).
