Dinner in the Museum

First to the museum, then an excellent meal: artistic and culinary pleasures combine with maximum pleasure in Vienna's museums.

The Natural History Museum offers a mussel or asparagus dinner in its domed hall, depending on the season. The breathtaking view across Vienna from the roof of the museum is best booked at the same time.

The Kunsthistorisches Museum also organizes gourmet evenings every Thursday, and a Sunday brunch that includes a visit to the museum. Art and dining are also offered by the Belvedere. The tour of the special exhibition is supplemented with appropriate dishes.

In the Leopold Museum, the Café Leopold awaits with culinary delights and rounds off a visit to the Leopold collection, with the main works of Austrian art from Schiele to Kokoschka.

A new restaurant called "Hill mumok" has moved into the Museum of Modern Art (mumok). Modern art is also found here right in the restaurant - with lamps by Austrian artist Franz West and wallpaper by American artist Cindy Sherman.

The MAK - Austrian Museum of Applied Art - also has a restaurant. The "Österreicher im MAK" takes its name from chef Helmut Österreicher, who reinterprets Viennese cuisine. The interior design by architect duo "Eichinger oder Knechtl" combines tradition and contemporary.

Accommodated very nobly, namely in the same classical palace and Vienna's biggest exhibition house, the Albertina, is "Do & Co Albertina", which apart from ambitious cuisine offers a delightful sidewalk café with a view of the Burggarten.

From the Porcelain Museum in Augarten Palace, it's straight on to dinner in Restaurant décor, where the dishes are naturally served in style on Augarten porcelain.
