Vienna Concept Store, retail space

There is a unifying concept behind the broad and surprising range of products at wieWien – Vienna Concept Store , which recently opened near the city’s Naschmarkt. Everything on sale has something to do with Vienna. What’s more, almost all of the design pieces, gifts and souvenirs at wieWien are exclusive limited editions. Even the interior design of the store is highly individual. There is scarcely a sales counter or shelf in sight. Instead, merchandise is displayed in travel trunks, some of which appear to float in space, while others seem more permanent.

Owner Onka Janele engaged Viennese designers to cast a creative eye over the city. The store’s merchandise gives visitors a way to take a beautiful piece and an interesting story home with them. The results are evident in the eclectic range of products on sale — Amateur leggings and arm-warmers with a map of the Vienna subway system, Ordinaer’s upcycled ashtrays made from Ottakringer beer cans, and pages of the “Falter” newspaper made into wallets.

Artup – Austrian Design in the City offers a mix of exclusive Austrian designs in products ranging from fashion, accessories, and home decor. More than 40 labels, including URBAN TOOL , Lucy D , Elfenkleid and Pitour , are displayed in a 170 square meter space at the Bauernmarkt.

Anyone looking for original and traditional Viennese souvenirs should check out the Original Viennese Snowglobes produced by Manufaktur Perzy . These glass balls depicting beloved winter landscapes have enchanted visitors for over 100 years. The largest selection can be found on display (and for sale) at the manufacturer’s snow globe museum. Select pieces can also be purchased in a wide variety of souvenir shops.
