Plant, cultivate, harvest, press or design, study, prototype, marketable product: just like product design, the development of wine demands expertise, passion and – by no means least important – good environmental conditions too. Wine growing looks back on more than two thousand years of tradition in Vienna.

700 hectares of vineyards are cultivated within the city limits – they shape the cityscape, are an important ecological factor, as well as a popular local recreational area. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, the classic “blended wine” and also the Blauer Zweigelt are enjoyed either at traditional “heuriger” (wine taverns) on the outskirts of the city, or in the many Viennese restaurants increasingly turning their attention to Viennese wine.
