Swing into Spring- Vienna: Now or never

TV Spot: Swing into Spring

Viennese Wine in the City

For several years, Viennese wine has been expanding increasingly beyond the confines of traditional wine taverns and conquering the city. It is now “in” to drink Viennese wine, and increasing numbers of dedicated restaurateurs and bar owners are supporting the wine from their town.

In the process, Viennese wine cuts a good figure. The fresh and aromatic “Gemischte Satz”, the “Junge Wiener”, as well as the light, spicy “Grüne Veltliner” and the cherry-fruity “Blaue Zweigelt” feel most at home in the trendy restaurants and the gardens of the summer bars. In the more upmarket restaurants, greater emphasis is placed on top class “Lagenweine” (single vineyard wines), mature Riesling and Pinot Blanc, but also Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, robust Grüne Veltliner and red wines such as the Pinot Noir and the St. Laurent. They are outstanding and all-purpose meal accompaniments, which perfectly round-off many of the dishes of Viennese cuisine.
