Exotic citrus fruit

Garden atmosphere in Vienna

Vienna is one of the greenest cities in the world. Apart from wonderful recreational oases, such as the Stadtpark, the Prater and the Lobau, Vienna also offers special events on the topic of plants and gardens at the beginning of spring.

Neugebäude Palace, with its revitalized Renaissance garden, is always worth a visit. In April the Simmering Garden Days are held here. From flowers to ceramics, from watering systems to honey and natural products, everything the gardener's heart desires is offered here. Admission is free! The only Viennese garden event in the autumn takes place at Neugebäude Palace: "Flora Mirabilis". Over 60 exhibitors from across Europe show shrubs, grasses, floristry and more. Also worth recommending are the lectures by international garden experts.

Design and nature meet at the Salon Jardin - Vienna's special kind of garden salon. In May around 60 exhibitors present the trends of this year's gardening season in the wonderful park of Hetzendorf Palace. A mix of plants, furniture and accessories invites you to have a stroll and a picnic on Mother's Day weekend. Specialist presentations, jazz music and culinary delights from the Wieno complete the program!

Did you know that the sonorous terms "Landsknechtshosen" and "Buddha's Hands" describe special citrus fruits?

Lovers of exotic fruits have come to the right place in the historic ambience of the Schönbrunn Orangery for the Vienna Citrus Days. Amongst other things, this traditional information and sales exhibition from 17 to 20 May, 2012 will present the historic collection of the Bundesgärten. Some of the fragrant plants are over 180 years old! The program also includes tastings of culinary specialties, as well as guided tours and lectures. Collectors can buy very special rarities here!

The CityPflanzenTage (CityPlantDays) will be held in the heart of Vienna on 26 and 27 April 2013. The market for young plants on the Freyung offers medicinal herbs, roses, special shrubs, seasoning herbs, vegetable and tea plants. All plants offered and culinary treats come from regional businesses.
