Lobau

The Lobau to the East of Vienna is part of the original, untouched landscape of the Danube water meadows national park. Side arms of the Danube, pools, wide meadows and dense woodlands, rare flowers, trees, fish, insects and birds abound in Vienna's own "jungle". Set off on your voyage of discovery - with free guided tours on foot or by bicycle. And from May till October the national park boat will ferry you directly to the heart of this enchanted countryside from the "Little Danube" (the Danube Canal) at the edge of the old city.

Old Danube

The Old Danube - surrounded by gardens, sunbathing areas, restaurants with waterside terraces, promenades and bike paths - attracts swimmers, sailors, rowers and windsurfers in summer, and ice skaters in winter. The choice is yours - with three sailing and windsurfing schools, nine boat hire facilities and four lidos. You may enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Gänsehäufel , which offers two kilometres of beach, a wave pool and a competition pool, playgrounds, cafés as well as a nudist area.

Danube Island

Some 3 million visitors make the Danube Island Festival each year Europe's largest youth party. But " The Island " has a lot else going for it, too: 42 kilometres of sand, gravel and grassy beaches on the New Danube , bathing bays, (ball) playgrounds, level running and skating routes, boat, cycle and surfboard hire, extensive nudist areas, bars, cafés and restaurants on Copa Cagrana . Vienna's recreation paradise has much to offer!

Sightseeing by boat

The Hundertwasser riverboat MS Vindobona welcomes you aboard from April till October - and it takes you to KunstHausWien, too. Every evening, you can dine à la carte on special sightseeing ship tours... (June-August: Fri, Sat).
