In the footsteps of Banksy

Pretty much everyone knows his works, but his identity remains hidden: Banksy, who comes from Bristol, England, is considered to be the trendiest, but actually unknown, street art superstar. With his artworks, which he leaves behind on façades, objects, public squares, and even in subway stations, he wants to make ironic, sometimes political, but always poetic statements.

With "The Mystery of Banksy - A Genius Mind", the world's most successful exhibition dedicated to Banksy's oeuvre is hosted in Studio F of the Wiener Stadthalle. 150 reproductions of his works give an insight into his extensive oeuvre. Banksy's best and most impressive motifs are displayed in 18 different rooms. They are produced on different materials (linen, fabric, aluminum, Forex and Plexiglas) and some are sprayed by hand by artists in Vienna. There are also video installations and replicas. Including very large ones like the London subway or a giant elephant. According to Banksy's motto "Copyright is for losers ©TM", this homage is not officially authorized either, due to his anonymity.

Extended until April 16, 2023!

The topic of street art is often encountered in Vienna. Numerous large murals provide ever more splashes of color in the urban space. The project "Wienerwand" allows people to legally spray on numerous surfaces throughout the city. The epicenter of the Viennese street art scene is the Danube Canal. Local street artists like Nychos and Traby are also internationally known for their works.
