Fantasy Art Museum

A special museum in Palais Palffy on Josefsplatz is dedicated to fantasy art. On show, are works by Ernst Fuchs, Arnulf Rainer, Rudolf Hausner, Arik Brauer and Curt Stenvert.

150 works by 120 artists are on permanent display in the Fantasy Art Museum. On show, are works by artists of the Vienna school of Fantasy Art Realism and pictures by important international artists of fantasy, surreal and visionary art. The exhibition ranges from the early beginnings after the Second World War to the present day.

The museum's centerpiece is the fine art painters of the Vienna School with important works by Ernst Fuchs, Arik Brauer, Rudolf Hausner, Wolfgang Hutter and Fritz Janschka. The artists of the Vienna School have strongly influenced subsequent generations. Rooms in the museum are therefore also dedicated to young painters. Thirty masterpieces by international fantasy artists from Japan, the USA and Australia and a graphics gallery round off the show.

Moreover, changing exhibitions are held in the Gallery of Palais Palffy on the first floor.
