Pop art meets automobile: The highlight of the show is Andy Warhol 's (1928-1987) sequence of 35 silk screen prints called CARS. In 1986/1987 the most important representative of American pop art documented the history of the automobile based on eight selected Mercedes Benz models. For the first time in about 20 years, this commissioned series can be seen together.
Another part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Swiss performance and object artist Sylvie Fleury who conceived six video films in 2005 for the Mercedes Benz Center in Paris. The videos blend the mythos of the legendary Mercedes Benz automobile with current ideas in art and fashion.
Also on display: A sequence of five black and white automobile "Portraits" by the New York artist Robert Longo and an investigation of the history of the design of the automobile using Vincent Szarek's SLR as an example.
