Beach Volleyball European Championship 2021
Ice rink becomes beach volleyball court
After the pandemic-induced break in 2020, Vienna's most popular beach volleyball event is taking place again this year: from August 11 to 15, 2021, top athletes of the international beach volleyball scene will battle it out for the European Championship title at A1 CEV EuroBeachVolley Vienna 2021 presented by Swatch. Vienna has been a stop on the international tour for beach volleyball professionals and fans for years. After the successful holding of the World Championship in 2017 and other major tournaments in the years that followed, the event in Vienna and the incomparable beach feeling have firmly established themselves on the summer program.
Taking all necessary preventive measures into consideration, the major beach volleyball event is being moved this summer from Danube Island to the city center. The new event location is on Heumarkt, on the site of the Vienna Ice Skating Association, within easy reach of U4 subway station Stadtpark. The Center Court – the main match arena – will be erected there and play host to the semi-final and final matches, among others. Another special feature: the newly developed stadium concept even allows night sessions to be held for the first time. This year, the side courts will remain on Danube Island, where in previous years the entire event site including beach village was transformed into a true paradise for beach volleyball fans.
Getting there and tickets
The event site on Danube Island is located between Floridsdorfer Bridge and Brigittenauer Bridge and the entrance can best be reached by public transport via Handelskai station. The event site in the city center is situated right by U4 subway station Stadtpark. Due to the Covid measures, access is possible only with valid tickets: ticket shop
