Shop Eigensinnig: Interior shot

Hotspot Burggasse

The trendy district around Burggasse includes, for example, the retro fashion store Goldstück Vienna. This is where the label Tiga Lily sells its dresses, blouses and skirts in the style of the 1940s and 1950s, which are created in collaboration with a small Viennese tailor shop. Sous-Bois offers stationery and paper goods by international designers: pencils, notebooks, pads, diaries, scissors as well as an interesting selection of coffee table volumes put together by figures such as the Italian graphic designer Bruno Munari and US artist Remy Charlip. Both shops are just a short walk from Veganista Ice Cream, Vienna’s first ever vegan ice cream parlor. Open all year round, it serves sustainable, fair trade ice cream in a range of conventional and unusual varieties - all of which are completely free of animal products.

Picturesque St.-Ulrichs-Platz

The Eigensinnig concept store on St.-Ulrichs-Platz was one of the first to seize on the potential of this particular part of town. This fashion shop has set up shop in an attractive historic vaulted space, with unplastered walls and concrete floors creating an edgy aesthetic. It only carries fashion in white, black and green by labels such as Hannibal, Esther Perbandt and Aleksandr Manamis and which is otherwise unavailable in the capital. Right next door on St.-Ulrichs-Platz is the Ulrich, a café, restaurant and bar combined, whose menu includes tarte flambée, numerous kinds of salad and small tapas-sized dishes. As of recently, the Ulrich has also had a little brother called Erich. Here as well there are small snacks, great cocktails and a wide selection of gin. The gold-black furnishing in combination with the white-painted vaulting creates a stylish overall impression.

At the corner of the idyllic St.-Ulrichs-Platz, the vintage store Burggasse 24 offers selected hip, second-hand fashion in light-drenched rooms with high ceilings. Coffee and cake are also offered. Right next door, the Viennese designer Sabine Kriebel runs a small boutique with her fashion label SBIN. At uppers & downers there is also hand-picked vintage fashion as well as the latest trends from international labels in the areas of fashion, accessories, shoes and perfumes. The charming showroom Die Sellerie offers fine art prints, stationery, home accessories and special gift ideas, developed or personally selected by four graphic designers. The Pure Living Bakery, also on Burggasse, serves delicious bagels, sandwiches and cakes in a cozy, shabby chic environment.
