Vienna Jewellery Days

Things get really pretty at selected locations in Vienna from 8 to 12 November, when Austrian jewelry makers present their unique pieces in superb handcrafted quality to an interested public and give an insight into the city's jewelry scene. The full range of handcrafted jewelry is also the focus of numerous events for five whole days. The show kicks off on 8 November with "Jewellery Unchained: Talking About Jewellery As Art" in the Hall of Columns of the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art. Ten international jewelry designers selected by a jury will present their contemporary works and talk about their working methods, materials, techniques and fundamental issues.

Insights into the jewelry collections of the museums

This year for the first time, the city's museums are also present at the Vienna Jewellery Days. Experts from the Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna and the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, the Picture Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art and the Austrian Folklore Museum gives insights into the objects in their collections on guided tours from 8 to 13 November and consider the topic of jewelry from various aspects. Another highlight of the Jewellery Days is the Schmuck.Nacht (Jewellery.Night) on 9 November, during which galleries, educational institutions and stores present current jewelry works in solo or group exhibitions under the slogan "Obsessed with jewelry" - from innovative auteur jewelry and object art to upcycling design and current trends in traditional goldsmithing. Workshops, tours, studio visits and talks complete the offering of this year's Vienna Jewellery Days.
