By the way, Vienna's biggest movie classic was created in 1948: "The Third Man" with Orson Welles as the legendary penicillin smuggler Harry Lime in post-war Vienna. One of the main protagonists alongside Welles was the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater – the symbol of Vienna (together with St. Stephen's Cathedral). Even today, you can understand what the showdown in the Viennese sewer system must have been like on the "Third Man Tour". Even a separate museum is dedicated to the movie.

For everyone who'd like to dive even deeper into the classic, there's a making-of story including interactive Vienna map showing the original filming locations.
