Screen of the Music Film Festival at City Hall at night

Music Film Festival on City Hall Square

The Music Film Festival on City Hall Square is one of the most enticing offers in Vienna during the summer. Something to suit every taste is also offered by the international leading gastronomers on site as well as by the music film program which covers every genre and is shown on the giant open-air screen.

Mozart to Elvis

Opera fans can look forward to Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón in Puccini's La Bohème and Donizetti's L’Elisir d’Amore, while Thomas Hampson can be seen in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra. Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Magic Flute get people in the mood for opera with their well-known melodies. Verdi's Rigoletto will be broadcast live from the Vienna State Opera.

Two operettas by Emmerich Kálmán, Die Csárdásfürstin and Gräfin Mariza, provide lighthearted entertainment. A classical highlight is the 2015 New Year's Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Zubin Mehta.

There's also plenty of jazz, with recordings of legendary performers such as Frank Sinatra, Eric Clapton, Chick Corea, Omara Portuondo as well as Tony Bennet & Lady Gaga. Many other pop concerts will be shown, such as by Elton John, Pink Floyd, Celine Dion, Queen, Bob Marley, Depeche Mode, Zucchero and Elvis Presley, who would have celebrated his 80th birthday this year.
