Chamber Music at Schloss Laudon

Count Gideon Laudon, after whom the castle was named, was considered one of the greatest patrons of art and culture of his time, and this alone was inspiration enough for the aron quartet of Vienna to turn the chamber music festival idea into reality - 2018 for the 11th time.

The festival offers a rich selection of Classical and Romantic chamber works, as well as milestones of the 20th century repertoire: music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitri Schostakowitsch, Arnold Schoenberg and more.

Guest appearances include pianist Gottfried Wallisch, Hartmut Ometsberger on the viola and Valentin Erben on the violoncello, for example.

Full program

The baroque water castle which is surrounded by a beautiful park was first mentioned in 1130. Being a big sponsor of the arts and sciences, field marshall Gideon von Laudon bought the castle in 1776 and furnished it elaborately in order to spend his last years there until 1790. Substantial parts of the interior decorations hail from that time. Attending a concert at Chamber Music Festival Schloss Laudon means to spend a very special evening with exceptional good musical performances in an unforgettable surrounding.
