Summer balls in Vienna
The ball season in Vienna reaches its peak in January and February, but people also dance keenly in the city in summer. The press club Concordia invites guests to its traditional ball in Vienna City Hall on 17 June. This year’s Concordia Ball is being held under the motto "Viva la Vida!" and combines Viennese ball culture with Cuban flair and hot salsa rhythms. In addition to the festively decorated rooms of City Hall, guests will also party under the starry sky in the colonnaded courtyard. The Concordia Ball has been one of Vienna's most sparkling and exclusive events for over 150 years.
Dancing at the Spanish Riding School
At the Fête Impériale on 24 June, the Spanish Riding School transforms into an impressive ballroom for a night. This year is the seventh time that the elegant summer ball will be held. Maria Theresia celebrated rousing parties in the Spanish Riding School in the middle of the 18th century. With the Fête Impériale, the Spanish Riding School brings this tradition of court balls back to life with a modern twist. All the rooms of the Spanish Riding School become a stage for the Fête Impériale: The arena, where the Lipizzaners normally perform their artistic ballet, becomes a dance floor, while the galleries of the Winter Riding School are available for strolling and watching. In the Summer Riding School, enjoy the festive summer ball in the open air.
The ball is famous for its opulent and imaginative decorations, and is held once again this year under the motto "Red-White-Red". The net proceeds of the Summer Ball are used exclusively for research purposes, including maintaining the traditional breeding of the Lipizzaner horses and administration of the Lipizzaner register.
