Popfest 2016: concert at night, crowd and stage outdoor with small lake, tents

You are here:

Vienna Popfest

For four whole days, 70 acts will provide an impression of the variety of the domestic pop music scene around Vienna's Karlsplatz, both open-air and indoors. The opening act on the lake stage will be the Vienna-based German-Turkish rapper Ebru Düzgun alias Ebow, followed by soul singer Lyli. Later in the day, Tom Neuwirth will give the long-anticipated concert premiere of all his new songs with his new electropop project Wurst. Also to be experienced on the lake stage are local pop newcomers such as the recently awarded Amadeus prizewinner AVEC, the soul/R&B prodigy Lou Asril as well as the performances of the hip-hop band Sketches on Duality, Soia & Band and the singer-songwriter and actress Eva Bilisich.

Wien Museum as festival headquarters

At the center of this year's Popfest will be the Wien Museum on Karlsplatz. Due to the museum's upcoming remodeling, the currently empty rooms will be used as this year's festival headquarters. In addition to singer/songwriter Sigrid Horn and beat acrobat Kerosin 95, the Politically Correct Comedy Club (PCCC) will also perform here. For the first time, there will also be freely accessible open-mic stages as well as the proven discussion panels on current topics of home-grown pop music.
