The dining garden at the Volksgarten Pavilion is one of the most secluded summer locations in the city. A Bangkok BBQ with numerous Thai specialties is prepared on the barbecue smoker (see large picture) from Monday to Saturday between 6.00 pm and 10.00 pm. Accentuated with music by the best DJs in the city.

In the City Garden of the Imperial Riding School Renaissance Vienna Hotel, visitors also delight in the specialties from the outdoor grill. The barbecue offering includes juicy meat dishes, fish, refined vegetarian specialties, assorted side dishes, dips and sauces. The City Barbecue is held until the end of August from Monday to Saturday, from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm, when the weather's fine. Package price per person: €32.

At Palais Coburg, grilling in the garden of the restaurant Clementine im Glashaus takes place until the end of September. Ribeye, rump steak, lamp, fish, lamb, seafood and delicious side dishes are grilled in the atmospheric garden, which is one of the most beautiful in the city. The barbecue is held in fine weather from Wednesday to Saturday, from 6.00 pm.

The restaurant "Zur Alten Kaisermühle" is famous for its grilled specialties in summer and the particularly romantic setting right by the Old Danube. In addition to Spanish and Italian steak specialties, the spare ribs marinated to the restaurant's own recipe are a tradition here. Local fish and selected seafood specialties of Mediterranean cuisine are also cooked on the charcoal grill.

A view of the Kaiserwasser, a tributary of the Old Danube, is afforded by the  Restaurant UNO im Arcotel Kaiserwasser. From June to August, "Imperial grilling" is on the menu here every Thursday from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm. There's an all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet available for €42.50 per person – with a wide selection of meat, fish and assorted side dishes. There are vegan BBQ evenings on 4 June, 2 July and 6 August 2016.

The Restaurant Kaiserwalzer also has a BBQ smoker in its idyllic garden in the 6th district. Food is grilled every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5.00 pm when the weather's fine. Spare ribs, steaks and cutlets are prepared here in the barbecue smoker. It's also worth taking a peek inside the restaurant, parts of which are heritage listed.

Grilling and chilling are on the menu from 27 May at the barbecue on the garden terrace of the Le Meridien hotel – with a direct view of Schillerpark. Delicacies from the grill are served here in fine weather, every Friday and Saturday from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm, for €42 per person. Starters and desserts are served.

The grill at Hotel Daniel will also be fired up every Thursday at 6.30 pm. At the Daniel Summernight, the terrace and garden transform into an atmospheric summer evening location with barbecue and summer punch. Steak, chicken, fish, various kebabs and crisp vegetables are cooked on the grill. The grill evenings cost €28 per person.
