Barbecue in Vienna

The dining garden at the Volksgarten Pavilion is one of the most secluded summer locations in the city. Delicious burgers, hot dogs, steaks, fish skewers and inventive vegetable specialties are prepared on the barbecue smoker in the garden from Monday to Saturday between 6.00 pm and 10.00 pm (see large picture). Accentuated with music by the best DJs in the city.

At Palais Coburg, grilling in the garden of the restaurant Clementine im Glashaus takes place from June to September. Ribeye, steak, crown of lamb, fish, shrimp and delicious side dishes from the charcoal grill or the smoker are served in the atmospheric garden, which is one of the most beautiful in the city. The barbecue is held in fine weather from Wednesday through Saturday, from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm.

The restaurant "Zur Alten Kaisermühle" is famous for its grilled specialties in summer and the romantic setting right by the Old Danube. The house specialty are the specially marinated spare ribs. What's more, numerous fish and meat specialties as well as surf and turf are prepared on the charcoal grill.

The Restaurant Kaiserwalzer also has a BBQ smoker in its idyllic garden in the 6th district. Food is grilled from Thursday through Sunday from 5.00 pm, starting in May. Spare ribs, steaks and grilled vegetables are prepared here in the barbecue smoker. It's also worth taking a peek inside the restaurant, parts of which are heritage listed.

The grill at Hotel Daniel will also be fired up starting in May, every Thursday from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm, whatever the weather. At the Daniel's Garden Grill Party, the terrace and garden transform into an atmospheric summer evening location with barbecue, great drinks and cool summer sounds. Steak, hot dogs, various kebabs and crisp vegetables are cooked on the grill.

The Allee right on the main avenue in the Prater serves barbecues Viennese-style. At seven meters in length, Austria's largest barbecue smoker is located here in the form of a locomotive. Specialties of the house are spare ribs, pulled pork and smoked Viennese 'Tafelspitz' (traditional fillet of boiled beef). In addition, various steaks, fish and poultry are prepared on the charcoal grill.

And there's a BBQ brunch every Sunday in the Grand Étage on the roof terrace of the Hotel Grand Ferdinand. In addition to cold and hot classics of Austrian and international cuisine, salmon trout, burgers, 'Beiried' (short loin) and much more are prepared at the barbecue stations. For those who prefer to barbecue for themselves, the City Garden of the Imperial Renaissance Hotel offers just that possibility: in the 2,000 m² garden oasis, visitors can make themselves comfortable with deckchairs, picnic blankets and lounge sofas on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.00 pm to 5.00 pm and borrow a barbecue for their own small summer party. Choose between the following packages: grill package with chicken for 2 persons for €16.50 or for 4 persons for €31.00, grill package with pork for 2 persons for €19.00 or for 4 persons for €36.00, vegetarian side dishes for €4.00.
