Heuer on Karlsplatz
The restaurant “Heuer” is located at one of the most central spots in Vienna - surrounded by a pretty garden plus terrace. The building on Karlsplatz is shared with the Kunsthalle Wien. Following extensive renovations, the popular trendy meeting place has had a completely new look since March 2014. Green leather benches and Thonet chairs provide a cozy ambience in the cool glass structure. The bar is now a central element in the Heuer.
A particular eye-catcher is the array of giant preserving jars that decorate the entire rear wall of the restaurant. The preserving jars are not only for decoration, but also a storage feature for the kitchen. Pickled fruit, preserved vegetables, and home-made syrup find their way into the food and drinks. The menu includes, for example, really great "shrubs", which are refreshing vinegar-based drinks. The cuisine focuses on regional dishes. Whitefish from lake Traunsee, chicken from the Sulmtal valley, and pike from the Salzkammergut are just a few examples. High-quality ingredients are prepared into fine dining dishes. A menu of small dishes invites diners to share and sample.
Great cocktails are also served in the Heuer in the evening, while the adjacent room offers space for larger events. Next to the restaurant is the KarlsGarten, a show and research garden that is open to the public and run independently of the restaurant.
