Confection with floral ornamentation

Confectionery from Vienna

When it comes to pastries, Vienna stands shoulder to shoulder with the greats such as France and Belgium. The flowering confectionery of chocolate candy artist Michael Diewald is unique. In his workshop in the 6th district, the self-taught confectioner conjures up fine delicacies such as lime-elderflower marzipan in turmeric and chamomile flower chocolate. Aroma explorer Mr. Diewald experiments with wild fruit, herbs and dried flowers preserved in sugar. These are combined with chocolate and marzipan - all preferably sourced from organic cultivation. Take a peek into the little confectionery workshop and watch the team at work. Samplings are also available: Michael Diewald explains his work in an entertaining fashion, invites visitors to unique taste experiences and lets them guess the ingredients in the chocolate candies.

Samples can also be tasted at the Xocolat Factory. Visitors attend special workshops, where they make their own chocolate confectionery and desserts to nibble on. If you prefer just to watch what's going on, you can look over the chocolate maker's shoulder at the factory in the Serviten Quarter in the 9th district and buy the chocolate candies right away. Refined truffle varieties and chocolate sticks with occasionally daring ingredients such as onion are created here by hand.
