Garden atmosphere in Vienna

Every year, garden and plant lovers head for the rarities market in the Botanical Garden. The market offers plants not found at wholesale centers and garden centers. The motto is: stroll, enjoy, exchange views, buy. The Hirschstetten Garden Days & Small Garden Exhibition are held one weekend later.

Design and nature meet at the Salon Jardin - Vienna's special kind of garden salon. Many exhibitors present the trends of this year's gardening season in the wonderful park of Hetzendorf Palace. A mix of plants, furniture and accessories invites you to have a stroll and a picnic.

Did you know that the sonorous terms "Landsknechtshosen" and "Buddha's Hands" describe special citrus fruits?

Lovers of exotic fruits have come to the right place in the historic ambience of the Schönbrunn Orangery for the 19. Vienna Citrus Days. Some of the fragrant plants are over 180 years old! The program also includes tastings of culinary specialties, as well as guided tours and lectures. Collectors can buy very special rarities here. Amongst other things, this traditional information and sales exhibition held annually in May will present the historic collection of the Austrian Federal Gardens. In 2019, the 450th anniversary of the gardens and plant collections in Schönbrunn will be celebrated on the Citrus Days.

In 2019, the Austrian Federal Gardens also celebrate their 100th anniversary in Vienna: Augarten, Belvedere, Burggarten, Volksgarten and Schönbrunn Palace make up Vienna’s green heritage.

Special attention will be paid to the former Habsburg gardens in Vienna on their 100th anniversary. From February to December, Vienna’s natural and cultural wealth will be presented on special guided tours as well as in exhibitions and workshops. The historic gardens are listed monuments and world heritage sites. To the event overview
