Supermarket of Art
Over 5,500 original works can not only be marveled at but also purchased at the Supermarket of Art. The assortment here ranges from drawings to watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings, to sculptures and photography. What's more, only original works of art are offered.
During the pandemic, there is a rising need for a beautifully designed home in conjunction with lasting values, where real art takes precedence over mass-produced goods from the Far East. Despite the occasionally precarious situation and major challenges, lockdown was also a time of creativity for many creators of art. In addition to some new additions, popular artists such as Golif, Klaus Hollauf, Sigrid Palmer, and Multimoni are also taking part again this year. Decorative, pleasing art is on hand, as are works that engage critically with society and a range of trends.
New in the portfolio is Rudolf Schneider-Manns Au (born 1935), architect and stage designer, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, who worked for many years for renowned establishments such as the Burgtheater, Volkstheater, Theater an der Josefstadt, and ORF. Also among the newcomers is the graphic designer Jamie Niederer (born 1987), who lives and works in Innsbruck. Her works (watercolor and ink) often show drag queens and transvestite artists. Michaela Grass from Vienna, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and textile designer (University of Derby), presents herself at the Supermarket of Art with abstract images, in which she plays with the various kinds of the color blue and textile materials.
Coronavirus safety precautions
A few coronavirus safety precautions need to be observed this year: a face covering must be worn inside the event, and visitors are required to use the disinfectant provided at the entrance. Experience shows that Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays are the days with the largest numbers of visitors. It is therefore recommended to visit the event on other days of the week. The annual preview is not taking place in 2020.
