Care, not exploitation

How can we pursue Climate Care together and address one of the biggest challenges of our time? The Vienna Biennale for Change: PLANET LOVE. Climate care in the digital age highlights many creative approaches and ideas as a way to provide possible answers. It is the first Biennale to combine art, design, and architecture with the goal of protecting the climate. At its focus: humility, respect, and appreciation for nature – instead of maximum resource exploitation. A wide range of events and projects aim at illustrating what a sustainable future can look like.

Vienna as impulse metropolis

This year's Biennale is organized by the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, the Austrian Architecture Museum, Kunst Haus Wien, the Vienna Business Agency and the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. The Vienna Biennale for Change is held every two years and this year for the fourth time overall. The latest edition, which is dedicated entirely to climate protection, makes reference to Vienna's long tradition as a stimulating, modern metropolis. Following on from Vienna around 1900, the city can still be considered an authentic, credible place to search for new ways of doing things.

Colorful mix of events

During the Biennale, numerous exhibitions, discourse projects, and an extensive supporting program with a range of different focal points will be held across Vienna. You can visit dozens of events at the participating institutions.

An overview of all Biennale exhibitions

At the beginning of September, international representatives from the fields of architecture, art, design, ecology, and economics discuss the diverse approaches during a conference at the Austrian Architecture Museum.
