Sightseeing by tram
In Vienna, streetcars are also called "trams". The yellow Vienna Ring Tram of Vienna Sightseeing Tours circles Vienna's Ringstrasse boulevard, passing the city's most important sights: Vienna State Opera, Parliament, Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna (Art History Museum), Naturhistorisches Museum (Natural History Museum), Imperial Palace, City Hall, Burgtheater and the University of Vienna are just some of the highlights that lie "along the route".
During the approximately 25-minute ride, the most important information on the sights is offered in eight languages and in Viennese dialect over headsets. There's also a special audio program for children. The picking up and setting down points are located on Schwedenplatz. Departure is daily from 10.00 am to 5.30 pm on the hour and half hour.
Info and Tickets
Every evening, the heritage-listed tram of the Tramway Museum departs on its one-hour tour of the city from the Otto Wagner city railway pavilion on Karlsplatz. A guide on board provides live explanations (in English and occasionally in German) of the sights along the Ringstrasse boulevard and features of Viennese life, such as the traditional coffee house. Many other historic trams are on display in the Remise – Wiener Linien Transport Museum.
Departures: May – October 7.00 pm, November – April 6.00 pm
