Otto Wagner sanatorium

Otto Wagner designed the Weisse Stadt (White City) project in the Baumgartner Höhe area of Vienna’s 14th district. Set in extensive parklands, the ensemble comprises a hospital, an Austrian art nouveau theater and the beautiful Church of St. Leopold (Kirche am Steinhof). The following tours are offered in 2018:

The Gilt Crown that Tops the Vienna Secession: Otto Wagner’s Church of St. Leopold (available in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish, by prior arrangement)

Sigmund Freud Museum

Sigmund Freud and Viennese Modernism: a city tour

Freud’s development of psychoanalysis is one of the central achievements of the Vienna Modernist era. The 2018 anniversary year tour starts at the building on Berggasse that houses his former apartment and practice, where he saw patients, met friends and compared notes with fellow professionals. From there, it takes in mansion houses and coffeehouses on the Ringstrasse boulevard, as well as the University of Vienna, the former site of Vienna General Hospital and various medical institutions. The tour price includes admission to the Sigmund Freud Museum. Tours can be arranged individually (contact: ).

Otto Wagner’s total work of art

In 2018 German, English and French tours of the large and small banking halls are available (by prior arrangement) as well as of the WAGNER:WERK museum which contains a permanent exhibition devoted to Otto Wagner’s work. The Austrian Post Savings Bank is among the leading examples of Viennese Modernism and the only building of its kind on the Ringstrasse. (contact: ; Museum opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am-5pm).
