EuroPride 2019 in Vienna

From June 1 to 16, 2019, Vienna will once again become the center of the European LGBT community: for two weeks, numerous information, discussion and cultural events as well as parties will fight for equality and tolerance as well as against homophobia and exclusion. Some events have already been determined: a EuroPride Run, a Pride Beach, a Pride Day at the zoo, Pride guided tours through Vienna's museums, film evenings and a EuroPride Pool Day at the Schönbrunnerbad.

More than 1 million visitors

A Pride Village on City Hall Square becomes the center of the EuroPride community. The additionally built Pride Park in front of the Votive Church in Sigmund Freud Park should be an "alternative option" for all those who find the hustle and bustle at City Hall Square too much, especially during the last three days of EuroPride. More than one million visitors are expected during EuroPride in Vienna.

The highlight of the celebrations will be the Rainbow Parade, which, as usual, will roar loudly along the world's most beautiful boulevard, the Ringstrasse, on June 15, 2019. The closing rally with numerous speeches and international top acts will also be the starting shot for a full-on night of partying. Because, of course, proper celebrations are needed again at the end of EuroPride.

50 years of Stonewall

2019 is a special year for the LGBT community: 50 years ago - on June 28, 1969 - riots began after a raid in the New York scene bar "Stonewall Inn", the impact of which is still felt today. With them started the fight for equal rights of the LGBT community, which continues to this day and reaches its climax every year in June with numerous Pride events in nearly every country in the world.
