The first virtual Pride

"The fight for equality must be fought globally, both virtually and in real life, at each event, every parade," says Katharina Kacerovsky, the organizer of Vienna Pride. Unfortunately, the event had to be canceled this year for obvious reasons. That's why Global Pride will be held for the first time on June 27, 2020 – virtually: more than 300 international Prides – from Bangkok to Sidney, Madrid, Cape Town, and New York – will present themselves during the 24-hour live stream with their contributions and one or other international star.

In Vienna, Global Pride can be followed at the public screening in numerous LGBT venues (including Village Bar and Café Savoy). And a Rainbow Parade along Vienna's Ringstrasse boulevard should ensure the necessary visibility of the LGBT community (live) in Vienna on this day. For safety reasons and to avoid putting anyone's health at risk, the 100 or so participants in the parade may only take part in cars and on motorbikes.

In addition, all residents of Vienna are invited to dress up in rainbow colors on this day. Vienna's schools and the trams will be "adorned" with rainbow flags again.
