Start in front of the Burgtheater

Velothon Vienna 2015

There will be two distances to choose from again this year. Both the 50 and the 80 kilometers routes will start in the very heart of Vienna - in front of the Burgtor. The event gets going the day before with the issuing of start numbers at the “Tag des Sports” (Day of Sport) on Heldenplatz.

2 distances – lots of vertical meters

Both routes lead past sights such as City Hall, the Imperial Palace and Schönbrunn Palace. The best riders of the 50 km route then head for the mountainous countryside that surrounds Vienna, where they pedal over 800 vertical meters to the finish line on the Kahlenberg. The 80 km route heads west out of the city to the Vienna Woods and on to Tulln. It then runs along the Danube and after 1,300 vertical meters reaches the finish line on the Kahlenberg - stamina and fitness are definitely required for this!

Once at the top, the Erdinger Oktoberfest provides relaxation and partying - with places to sit, a stage with live music, a cozy ambience and beer as a reward for the sporting achievement.
