Summer days on the Old Danube

The Old Danube is a centrally located recreational paradise and a calm body of water that has something to offer for every taste and is also frequently visited by the Viennese. About 500 row boats, electric and paddle boats are awaiting vacationers from around the world. The waters are also very popular among sailors; it was on the Old Danube, after all, that the first sailing regatta on Austrian waters took place. Numerous outdoor pools, such as the famous "Gänsehäufel", have excellent water quality and tempt visitors to enjoy many pleasant hours at the beach. About forty restaurants - most located directly on the water - ensure carefree hours from April to October.

  The boat rental companies are extending opening hours so that visitors can explore the romanticism of the Old Danube by moonlight with a bottle of Prosecco. • Light Festival on the Old Danube: August 10, 2013 (in case of bad weather: August 17, 2013)
  Decorated boats, hits and oldies along with a giant fireworks show will create a party mood on the Old Danube. Make sure you reserve your boat in time.
• Sturm & schmaltz: September, 2013
  Rent a boat and enjoy it with a glass of fresh "Sturm", a seasonal alcoholic drink made from grapes (but not quite wine) and traditional schmaltz sandwiches.
