ベートーヴェンはこの家で交響曲第２番や多くのピアノ、ヴァイオリンソナタを作曲しました。1802年には、深い絶望の中で「ハイリゲンシュタットの遺書」を書いています。結局発送されなかった弟たちへの手紙には、悪化する難聴への絶望が記されています。ベートーヴェン・ミュージアムは、35年間をウィーンで過ごした楽聖に捧げるウィーン最大規模のベートーヴェンセンターです。
