About the Event
Käthe Leichter. Surveying Women
Käthe Leichter was one of the most influential figures in the labour movement of the First Austrian Republic, the "intellectual powerhouse behind the socialist women’s movement". Following the establishment of a women’s department within the Vienna Chamber of Labour in 1925, she assumed leadership, becoming its inaugural director. Leichter pioneered groundbreaking studies on the living and work conditions of employed women, solidifying her reputation as a trailblazer in social research.
Käthe Leichter's demand at the time has lost none of its relevance today: "Equal pay for equal work!"
