Josef Frank and the others. New furniture 1920–1940
Throughout 2025 the Vienna Furniture Museum is focusing on furniture design from the interwar period in Austria, marking both the 140th anniversary of the birth of the architect Josef Frank (1885–1967) and the centenary of the foundation of the Vienna furnishings company Haus & Garten.

The new furniture from Austria in the 1920s and 1930s was distinguished by its diversity, comfort and high level of craftsmanship. Austrian furniture design from the interwar period thus differed significantly from the design principles of the Bauhaus and from the luxu-rious forms of the French art deco movement.
