About the Event

The traveling open-air cinema at different locations throughout Vienna

VOLXkino is the only traveling cinema of its kind and has long been a staple of the summer cultural scene: an extraordinary film program at extraordinary (cinema) venues. The successful concept of the traveling open-air cinema VOLXkino has remained virtually unchanged since its inception in 1990. Screenings take place wherever there is space, at nightfall, in locations atypical for a cinema - in parks, courtyards, public squares, and markets, along the Gürtel or on the outskirts of the city. From June to September, and always with free admission!

In addition to non-mainstream feature films and documentaries, VOLXkino also focuses on Austrian cinema.

The season kicks off on June 10, 2026, at the Karmelitermarkt in the 2nd district.
