The "Anholt Ipsos City Brands Index" ranks 50 cities around the world in six categories. Vienna was awarded best city in the category "Place", which looks at topics such as climate, cleanliness, beauty of the buildings and landscape. "This ranking once again confirms that Vienna is known around the world for being a functioning metropolis."

Vienna also scores in other categories in the "Anholt Ipsos City Brands Index". The population of Vienna is perceived around the world as being open and friendly, facilities such as schools, hospitals and transport are also rated extremely positively. In the category "People", Vienna therefore lands in fifth place, in the category "Prerequisites" in eighth place, which means an overall rank of 7. The list is headed up by London, Sydney and Paris. For this year's ranking, 5,000 online interviews were held in ten countries in January 2020.
