Austria's most important multidisciplinary and curated design festival.

Vienna Design Week is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year: Austria’s largest curated design festival offers around 200 program events—exhibitions, talks, guided tours, and workshops—over the course of ten days and welcomes over 40,000 visitors each year. Vienna Design Week tells the stories behind objects, creates space for experimentation, and connects designers with the worlds of craftsmanship, business, the city, and society. 
As usual, the festival headquarters is moving to a new neighborhood, which, as the “focus district,” helps shape the program. This year, the choice falls on the Hietzing neighborhood: The festival headquarters is moving into the vacant Allianz building at Hietzinger Kai 101, designed by Harry Glück—in the immediate vicinity of Schönbrunn Palace and Villa Beer. It’s an exciting contrast between late modernism and imperial splendor that Vienna Design Week is showcasing this year.
