Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 8 in C Major, D 944, “Great C Major Symphony” (1825–1828)
An event that combines two proven formats: As previously in “Im Klang,” the musicians of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra take their places on the cleared floor of the Great Hall, so that the audience – people with and without disabilities, including, of course, wheelchair users – can sit directly among them. The proximity to the musicians and a presentation tailored to individual needs create a multisensory experience that allows people with various disabilities to experience music firsthand. The program features excerpts from Franz Schubert’s “Great C Major Symphony,” performed by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Petr Popelka and presented by Petra Linecker. Pre-concert workshops held at participating institutions, where participants make music together, complement the program. Upon request, musicians from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as well as students from the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Anton Bruckner Private University will visit your institution in advance. In musical workshops, the musicians invite participants to listen, try things out, and join in.
