The most beautiful cycling and hiking routes

Sports are a big draw here too: the Burgenland boasts Austria’s longest outdoor season. Thanks to the mild Pannonian climate, lengthy cycling tours and leisurely hikes are possible from March through November. Particularly recommended are the Kirschblütenradweg during cherry blossom season in spring, the family-friendly Neusiedler See Cycle Path, the scenic Rosalia Cycle Route, and the Paradiesroute in Southern Burgenland. A special experience also awaits on the Burgenland Trails on Geschriebenstein, the highest mountain in the Burgenland. Mountain biking adventures are guaranteed year-round on 40 kilometers of singletrack.

Rainy day tips

Thanks to its many hours of sunshine, Burgenland is also referred to as the sunny side of Austria. But even here, there are rainy days. Then it’s time to dive in and switch off at the thermal spas in Burgenland. Soothing thermal waters, wide-ranging sauna facilities, family-friendly amenities and revitalizing treatments create the ideal conditions for a restorative getaway. Healing thermal water from several springs flows into these wellness oases. The St. Martins Therme & Lodge, for example, offers a unique combination of nature and wellness. At the Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg, the youngest family members take center stage. Harmony, sensuality and romance combine to create a balanced experience at the AVITA Therme in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Spacious indoor and outdoor areas at the Allegria Therme Stegersbach provide the perfect mix of water fun and relaxation.
