Conditions of participation for the “Strauss Waltz Challenge” giveaway

Participation

  • The giveaway is organized by the Vienna Tourist Board, Invalidenstraße 6, A-1030 Vienna (VTB for short), as part of its promotional activities under the name Strauss Waltz Challenge.
  • The raffle is in no way connected to Apple or Google.
  • All natural persons over the age of 18 who have registered through the ivie app during the competition period and have reached the required number of points are eligible to participate.
  • An explanation of how to collect the points required to win the prizes can be found at ivie-challenge.vienna.info.
  • The competition period is April 22 to December 31, 2025.
  • The winner of the main prize (two overnight stays from Friday to Sunday at the Austria Trend Parkhotel Schönbrunn for 2 people) will be selected in a random draw after the end of the challenge on December 31, 2025.
  • To take part in the prize draw for the main prize, participants must be registered in the ivie app and have achieved the full score of 38 points. The winners will be informed by email.
  • At least 20 points are required to receive one of the Johann Strauss goodies (Strauss soap, Strauss fan or Strauss espresso cup). Strauss goodies can only be collected in person at the Tourist Info Albertinaplatz (Albertinaplatz 1, 1010 Vienna). Participants must demonstrate their points balance in the ivie app in order to be able to collect their prize.
  • Please note: only 40 Strauss goodies are available per month (while stocks last).

Exclusions

  • Employees of the VTB and its partners as well as the respective relatives of the aforementioned employees and the residents of their household are excluded from participation.
  • In the event of a breach of these conditions of participation, the VTB reserves the right to exclude any infringing individuals from the competition.
  • Persons who use unauthorized aids or other means of manipulation, such as automatically generated entries, e.g. by so-called “bots”, shall also be excluded. In such instances, the VTB reserves the right to subsequently withhold prizes or to reclaim them after they have been redeemed if the participant is at fault.

Performance and processing

  • Participants may only register once and therefore only one prize per participant will be awarded.
  • The participant is responsible for ensuring that the email or postal address provided is correct.
  • It is not possible to redeem the main or monthly prize in cash, nor exchange it or transfer it to another person.
  • The VTB reserves the right to make changes and additions to the competition or to cancel the “Strauss Waltz Challenge” competition without prior notice. This applies in particular in the event of force majeure ( especially pandemics and their indirect effects) or if the competition cannot be held or continued for organizational, technical or legal reasons, provided that the VTB is not at fault.

Data protection, data processing and data transfer

  • Processing of participants’ personal data in accordance with the conditions of participation is required because otherwise it is not possible to take part in the competition
  • Participants’ data will be processed by the VTB for the purpose of organizing and fulfilling the competition (Art 6 Para. 1 points b, c and f GDPR).
  • No data will be passed on to third parties as part of the competition, unless it is necessary for the technical provision of the competition.

  • Data protection notice for the AR function (Niantic technology):
    The ivie app uses augmented reality technology from Niantic Inc (USA) to provide the Strauss AR Experience. Technical data such as device information, location data and usage information can be transmitted directly to Niantic - without the need for a login. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in the technical provision of the AR function (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). Further information on data processing by Niantic can be found in the Niantic privacy policy.
  • Data protection notice for the optional “Snap Gold Filter” (Snap Inc. technology):
    The ivie app uses the Snap Camera Kit, a technology from Snap Inc. that provides functions such as face filters and AR effects. The Snap Camera Kit is used when the optional Snap Gold filter is used.
    By using these functions, personal data (e.g. camera images, interactions with effects) may be collected and processed. This data processing is carried out in accordance with Snap Inc.'s privacy policy.

Liability

  • The VTB shall be released from all obligations at the end of the competition period, in other words once the prizes have been awarded. The VTB shall not be liable for material defects or defects of title.
  • The announcement of the winners does not constitute a guarantee.
  • The VTB shall not be liable for damages that may arise due to errors, delays or interruptions in communication, malfunctions of technical systems and services, incorrect content, loss or deletion of data, viruses or in any other way during participation in the competition, unless such damages are caused intentionally or through gross negligence on the part of the VTB (its bodies or employees). The VTB’s liability for personal injury, even in the event of slight negligence or under any mandatory liability laws (product liability), shall remain unaffected.

Final Provisions

  • Should the conditions of participation contain invalid provisions, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining conditions.
  • There is no legal recourse to review the award draw.
