Cafés
Café Savoy
The Café Savoy on the Naschmarkt is a traditional Viennese coffee house dating back to imperial times, where a colorful flea market is held on Saturdays. An eye-catcher are the giant mirrors – said to be the biggest in Europe outside the Palace of Versailles. www.savoy.at
Fett+Zucker
Opened in the summer of 2011, Fett+Zucker has become a permanent fixture on the scene. This small espresso bar in the second district offers outstanding cakes, with vegan, gluten-, and lactose-free options. www.fettundzucker.at
Villa Vida
The queer community café with bar and restaurant in the Türkis Rosa Lila Villa offers not only tasty cakes from Fett+Zucker but also lunchtime and evening menus with a large vegetarian selection. There isn't a better spot than this for those who fancy a cocktail. The picturesque dining area in the inner courtyard in particular makes this establishment a big draw in the summer. The "Queen's Brunch", at which the drag queens provide the fun at breakfast, is held on Sunday. http://villavida.at/
Restaurants
Motto
The Motto is perhaps the ultimate hotspot in Vienna, and features an outstanding menu. Everyone who is anyone meets for a drink in the stylized, but very comfortable bar. The clientele is mixed, and the percentage of prominent people high. Designer Helmut Lang was a waiter here before he became a fashion tsar. The Motto am Fluss on the Danube Canal also belongs to the "Motto empire". www.motto.at
Sixta
The restaurant on the Schönbrunnerstraße in the fifth district combines rustic charm with modern accents. In short: It’s very cozy in the Sixta. The menu offers everything that fans of Viennese cuisine desire. www.sixta-restaurant.at
Bars
Village Bar
The clientele in the Village is a colorful mix, and the mood is relaxed and communicative. The friendly waiters and the tasty drinks ensure that the bar in a side street near the Naschmarkt is very popular, and that the guests are just as sociable. www.village-bar.at
Felixx Café & Bar
Since its establishment in 2004, Felixx has been a fixed point on the Vienna scene. The bar, which is open daily in the lower Gumpendorferstraße in the sixth district, scores points with its grandiose ambiance and great music, from pop hits to house. Every Sunday at 10.00 am, there's a drag brunch with all-you-can-eat buffet. www.felixx-bar.at
Kisss Bar Vienna
The bar serves not only drinks but also food: from carpaccio to Kasnudeln (Carinthian cheese pasta) and the Kisss burger, the menu is packed with all sorts of treats. An unusual feature of the bar is the "Art Corner" (Kunst Corner): a pop-up store which can be rented by artists. www.kisssbarvienna.at
City Bar
Right across from Vienna’s oldest gay club, the Why Not, the City Bar is the perfect starting point for a long night. www.citybar.at
