Wiener Stadthalle

With more than 300 events and about 1 million visitors a year, the Wiener Stadthalle is Austria’s largest event center. It ranks among Europe’s top 10 arenas and is a flagship of Vienna’s cultural scene. National and international stars perform here year-round, and the venue also hosts exhibitions, trade fairs, shows, cabaret, sporting events, operettas and musical productions.

In both 2015 and 2026, the whole world looked to Vienna. On both occasions, the Wiener Stadthalle was the venue for the biggest music show in the world: the Eurovision Song Contest. Events on this scale are right at home here.

Austria’s largest indoor arena

The heart of the event center is Hall D, which is also Austria’s largest indoor arena. It offers space for up to 16,000 visitors. With a length of 92 m, a height of 17 m and flexible grandstand elements, the hall is unspeakably versatile and can be used for a wide variety of events. From a bird's eye view, 10,000 m² represent the largest roof for entertainment, and in the interior roof area, almost 100 tons of technology can be mounted on the ceiling for the most modern large-scale events.

“A UFO has landed in Vienna,” was the reaction at the opening in 1958. Its unprecedented scale made world-class events possible from day one and brought the global elite, from Louis Armstrong to Deep Purple to Frank Zappa, closer to a euphoric audience. Years later, the outstanding architecture conceived bystar architect Roland Rainer continues to prove itself and sets no limits on what is possible, from concerts, trade fairs, sporting events, and TV shows to serving as a two-time host of the Eurovision Song Contest.

A significant step towards more sustainability and use of resources: Since December 2023, around 3,000 photovoltaic panels have been in operation on the roof of Hall D of the Wiener Stadthalle - one of the largest inner-city photovoltaic systems - the area is equivalent to 21 tennis courts - on Austria's most important event location.

Hall F for smaller-scale events

Hall D has been modernized, and the entire complex comprises six different halls. Architects Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller added the newest building in 2006: the smaller Hall F has further expanded the range of events on offer. It accommodates up to 2,000 attendees.
