Vienna Design Week turns Vienna into a hotspot for design every year – this The Vienna Design Week turns Vienna into a center of design every year – this year for the 19th time. In cooperation with Viennese museums, manufacturers and designers, the festival offers various opportunities to explore the theme of design, especially through events, exhibitions, installations, guided tours, themed tours and workshops. The focus is on the diverse creative output that the local design scene is known for and ranges from product and furniture design to graphic and social design. Sustainability and the circular economy are becoming increasingly important topics at Vienna Design Week.

Festival Headquarters in the 4th district

This year, the festival headquarters will be located in the 4th district, in the impressive workshop halls and showrooms of a former car dealership at Wiedner Hauptstraße 52. Here you’ll find exhibitions, talks and workshops. Vienna Design Week takes place at 50 locations spread throughout the city, with more than 200 events and mostly free admission. Frankfurt Rhine-Main is the World Design Capital 2026 and will be presenting some of its projects in advance as a guest at Vienna Design Week 2025.

Handicraft in focus

Vienna Design Week casts light on the production processes of design and handicraft. Studio visits and tours to production sites are therefore an important component of the festival. Another exciting feature is the Passionswege (Paths of Passion) format, which brings together international and Austrian designers with Viennese craft businesses, once again under the patronage of the Vienna Tourist Board this year. Two businesses are at the heart of this year’s Passionswege: the designer duo Swedish Girls will be hosted by Cucina Alchimia, which, alongside operating as a restaurant, also serves as a laboratory where installations, art objects and even everyday items are created using kitchen waste. Frankfurt-based designer Kai Linke will be a guest at the Schnitzstube Stadlhofer in the 14th district, where he will be engaging with a traditional craft technique.

Vienna Design Week is also dedicated to the topic of "Urban Food & Design". Practical design solutions for the urban food industry will be developed in collaboration with companies. This year, the focus is on developing colors and pigments from bioregional, natural resources.
