In “Of All Times, Christmas!”, lighthearted literature and warm string sounds come together for an evening that shows the quietest time of the year from its comical side. The focus is on those moments between family celebrations and chaos, visits from relatives and gift-giving stress, contemplation and feeling overwhelmed, moments when things don’t always go according to plan. This program, so beloved by audiences, is dedicated to these familiar and often wonderfully absurd situations. With subtle irony and tongue-in-cheek humor, Fritz Karl reads texts by Robert Gernhardt, Gert Heidenreich, Heinz Erhardt, and others. Accompanying him, the Sonare String Quartet spans a wide musical spectrum from Pachelbel to Purcell, from Bach to jazz lending the evening a festive pre-Christmas atmosphere.
