Organic restaurants

An increasing number of consumers value sustainability, ethics, quality and indulgence in equal measures when it comes to food. This is why Vienna also has a restaurant scene that uses products derived from ecologically correct agriculture and humane animal keeping.

Certified organic restaurants

The restaurants that have their organic offerings officially certified are particularly worth highlighting. And Vienna has something very special to offer in this regard: the Luftburg – Kolarik restaurant in the Prater is the largest fully certified organic restaurant in the world. Everything here is 100 percent organic, from the meat right down to the drinks. The kitchen serves traditional Viennese dishes such as cured pork knuckle and spare ribs alongside vegetarian and vegan options. This family-friendly restaurant also focuses on environmental innovations such as using renewable energy and has won multiple awards for its commitment.

Naturkost St. Josef in the 7th district was one of the early pioneers of organic food and has been serving a daily rotation of lunch menus for several years - all organic and vegetarian. Stadtheurige Gigerl has also switched over to a certified organic offer – and it's 100 percent regional as well. At Herknerin, Viennese cuisine of organic quality is on the menu.

A vegan restaurants is also organically certified: Süßkind Veganery offers quick and healthy food at lunchtime. The bistro at the packaging-free store Lieber ohne also offers daily changing lunch menus in certified organic quality. The Labstelle attaches particular importance to sustainable cuisine. Organic ingredients are a matter of course there, but so are regionality and seasonality. Fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish come to the table without long transport routes. And the aim is to use everything wherever possible. No matter whether vegetables or meat.

At the Naschmarkt and Karmelitermarkt markets, Tewa offers organic cuisine with influences from around the world. At Karma Food, visitors can enjoy healthy organic curries, soups, bowls and salads, many of which are vegan.
