Tell me where the flowers bloom … in the Hirschstetten Botanical Gardens, of course. All the plants that provide so much delight throughout the year in Vienna’s parks and gardens are expertly cultivated here. Allowing Vienna to present itself in fresh bloom in every season!

Hirschstetten Botanical Gardens

300,000 spring bloomers, 800,000 summer flowers and around 1 million tulip and narcissus bulbs: That is the proud sum of plants cultivated in the Hirschstetten Botanical Gardens every year. Vienna therefore blossoms in every corner - from the flowerbed along the roadside to a whole sea of flowers in a park. The facility - also called the Florarium - can be visited free of charge from May to October.

Did you know that the first place in Europe to cultivate tulips was Vienna, even before the flower became a trademark of the Netherlands?

Stroll through the "Garden of Five Continents", take a seat in the Indian garden and enjoy the summer surrounded by hardy banana and palm trees, find the right path through the Liguster Maze and be spirited into the strange worlds of the Mexican, Japanese and Chinese gardens. The Palm House, with its exotic plants and animals, is also open in winter and offers a tropical, romantic atmosphere.

What's more

Wedding Garden, Indian and Mexican Garden as well as the Palm House can also be hired for weddings. Particularly nice is the Advent period at the Hirschstetten Botanical Gardens: A special kind of Christmas market enchants young and old every year.

Kagran School Gardens

The Kagran School Gardens are easy to reach on public transport, offer pure relaxation as well as the possibility to learn about garden design and gather tips for the garden at home. Impressive here are the many themed gardens, where you can follow the tracks of Old Masters, such as Monet, Goethe and Shakespeare. Right next door is the Austrian Horticulture Museum!

Austrian Horticultural Museum

Are you interested in the history of gardening as well as flowers? The Austrian Horticulture Museum in the former "Kagran Orangery" in Vienna's 22nd district houses 30,000 historic exhibits - from tools to vehicles and from photographs to plans - the biggest collection of its kind in Austria. While you're here, learn more about the history of gardening and the art of floristry. The attractive Art Nouveau building has an exhibition area of 500 m² and is definitely worth a visit.
