Vienna Stadthalle

In 1958, Vienna acquired the Vienna Stadthalle, thanks to architect Roland Rainer, as a flagship for modern concerts and shows. In those days, the unheard of size made events in a class of their own possible from the outset and brought the world elite, from Louis Armstrong and Deep Purple to Frank Zappa, closer to a euphoric audience.

Hall D

The heart of the event center is Hall D, which is also Austria's largest event hall. It offers space for up to 16,000 visitors. With a length of 92 m, a height of 17 m and flexible grandstand elements, the hall is unspeakably versatile and can be used for a wide variety of events. From a bird's eye view, 10,000 m² represent the largest roof for entertainment, and in the interior roof area, almost 100 tons of technology can be mounted on the ceiling for the most modern large-scale events.

"A UFO has landed in Vienna," was the comment at the opening in 1958. Years later, the outstanding architecture by star architect Roland Rainer still proves its worth and sets no limits to events - whether concerts, trade fairs, sports events or TV shows.

A significant step towards more sustainability and use of resources: Since December 2023, around 3,000 photovoltaic panels have been in operation on the roof of Hall D of the Wiener Stadthalle - one of the largest inner-city photovoltaic systems - the area is equivalent to 21 tennis courts - on Austria's most important event location.

Since the modernisation, and construction of the second Hall F, the spectrum of events has grown even wider: besides exhibitions, trade fairs, sport events, shows and musical productions, top stars can also be seen on a regular basis.

65 years, thousands of shows

With over 300 events and around one million visitors annually, the Vienna Stadthalle is Austria's largest event center and one of the top 10 arenas in Europe.
