Helge Schneider, the wig-wearing musician from the Ruhr region, is trumpeting his way into the next decade with his unmistakable chatter. With a crazy new version of a sort of miniature orchestra, he continues to shake his audience’s diaphragms to the limit. Sometimes he pounds the drum, sometimes he blasts a hodgepodge of sounds from his saxophone, which he keeps skillfully hidden until it’s his turn. Piano on the left, trumpet on the right, left foot keeping the beat and right foot thumping on the big bass drum. It’s a joy to watch him struggle! But it’s worth it! Absolutely! Leo plucks the four strings of his double bass, and Sandro chops up budding thoughts with his ultra-slim, sharp-sounding old Gibson guitar. A euphoria of utter nonsense spreads through the crowd when Helge spontaneously ends the concert right in the middle of it, only to start right back up again.
