Children playing with hats and clothes at the "Mini Mobil" area at the Museum of Technology

Fun for children, relaxation for adults

Many museums offer wide-ranging programs aimed especially at a younger audience - parents can use the time to view exhibitions at their leisure:

  • Children up to 14 years of age are invited to discover the world with all the senses in the ZOOM Children's Museum. The grown-ups can also join in or use the time to visit another museum or a restaurant in the MuseumsQuartier.
  • In the Belvedere, children from three to twelve years of age attend children's Sundays, where they learn secrets about art treasures, after which they can get creative in the Pinselstrich Studio.
  • On family Sundays in the Albertina, children from five years of age can participate in hands-on tours and then put their own ideas into art works in the studio.
  • A museum for the whole family: In the musical adventure world, the House of Music, music can be experienced with all of the senses. Giant instruments, computers and state-of-the-art electronics are great for playing, experimenting and discovering. Conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - and the musicians will judge how good you are. Have a go at banging the timpani or discover what a baby can hear from the safety of its mother's tummy. The special interactive virtostage for children presents the "zoo concert", where the kids can prompt the crocodile to sing the blues, the frog to dance the polka and the centipede to tap-dance.

You can finish off an exciting day in Vienna's Prater at the Luftburg adventure world. While the kids burn off energy in the 1,000 m2 bouncy castle adventure world, the adults can restore their strength at Restaurant Luftburg – Kolarik im Prater with Wiener schnitzel, knuckle of pork or spare ribs.

Parents can do a spot of relaxed shopping in the Millennium Tower on the banks of the Danube, while the children (from 8 years) play in the Monki Park, an indoor family-oriented park with high-rope climbing garden and jungle trampoline.
